74 years of family funeral service in Knox County

Joe & Walter 275px.jpg

Families served by Knox Funeral Home benefit from the expertise handed down from father to son.

The Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky recognized Barbourville funeral director and embalmer, Walter C. Hopper Jr. with its 50-year service pin at the 117th Annual Kentucky Funeral Directors Convention in Louisville, KY, in 1999. Walter Jr., known in the Barbourville community as “Tub,” graduated from the Kentucky Mortuary School and was officially licensed in 1949.

Following Joe's graduation from Centre College and Mid-American College of Funeral Service, father and son decided to open the Knox Funeral Home, to offer the most professional funeral services in Barbourville and Knox County. Following in his father's footsteps, Joe received his embalmer and funeral director licenses in 1990.

With combined funeral service experience of over eight decades, Tub and Joe Hopper have worked side-by-side since 1990 to provide caring, professional quality services to families at their time of need.
