SMITH, Reece (1935 - 2019)
Mr. Reece Smith, 83, of Hinkle, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 5, 2019 at the Continue Care Hospital in Corbin. He was the son of the late Clarence and Nola Smith born on September 14, 1935 in Clay County.
Reece was a former diesel mechanic and a member of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church and attended the Green Road Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed working in his garden, coon hunting, playing and listening to gospel music as well as spending time with his family.
On February 19, 1961, he united marriage with Sudie Rella Mills.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elva Jean Smith, Leona Messer and Erma Lee Smith; a brother, Carlson Smith; a sister-in-law, Willa Lee Smith; four brothers-in-law, Don Jackson, Frank Smith, Tesco Mills and Dexter Mills; a niece, Lois Jean Mills and two nephews, Michael Smith and Stephen Jackson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sudie Rella Smith of Hinkle; seven children, Debbie Johnson and husband, Scott, of Bimble, Danny Smith and wife, Marie, of Hinkle, Robbie Smith and wife, Linda, of Corbin, Tammy Carpenter and husband, Lee, of Corbin, Randy Smith and wife, Loretta, of Hinkle, Marty Smith and wife, Raylynn, of Hinkle and Mickie Smith and wife, Shelia, of Hinkle; brothers and sisters, Melvin Smith and wife, Eller, of Hinkle, Irene Jackson and husband, Fred, of Girdler, Ernesteine Collins and husband, Joe, of Girdler, Ilene Hubbard and husband, Jack, of Hinkle; a brother-in-law, Floyd Messer of Girdler; a sister-in-law, Stella Smith of Barbourville; 23 grandchildren, Brandon, Dallas, Amanda, Kendra, Daniel, Danielle, Chrissy, Mandy, Whitley, Jerry, Tyler, Lecora, Cody, Justin, Jason, Chrissy, Josh, Savannah, Cara, Laban, Jozi, Elana and Gabriel; 36 great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted at the Green Road Missionary Baptist Church Sunday, June 9 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Tip Smith and Joshua Jordan officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Callebs Creek Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be his grandsons. Honorary bearers will be his friends and neighbors.
Friends may call at the church Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
