SMITH, Christie Diane Stamper (1975 - 2018)
Ms. Christie Diane Stamper Smith, 43, of Richmond, formerly of Knox County, passed away Sunday morning, November 25, 2018 at her home. She was the daughter of Rev. Roy Stamper and Shelia Diane Brooks born on June 28, 1975 in Pineville.
Christie was a former substitute teacher with the Knox County School System and a member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. After life experiences brought Christie to Liberty Place Recovery Center for Women, she became a mentor, a sponsor, gained alumni status and was able to inspire many people with her life story. She most dearly loved being a mom.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Doyle and Alma Brooks; great grandparents, Alton and Marie Kilgore and Eula Mae McDaries; an aunt, Wanda Stamper and former in-laws, Junior and Helen Smith.
Survivors include her parents, Rev. Roy Stamper of Barbourville and Diane Brooks of Heidrick; her precious and loving children, Jordyn and Zacchaeus Smith and their father, Donnie, all of Girdler and Eligah Hammons and his father, Frank, both of Artemus; a beloved brother, Rev. Roy Michael Stamper and wife, Redena, of Mackey Bend; grandparents, William and Sue Stamper of Warren; several loving nieces and nephews, Dustin Deaton, Mikyla, Mallory, Maegan, Graysen and Lila Stamper and Madason and Corey Thomas; her bonus kids, Natasha Smith Sizemore and Cody Smith; her life-long best friend and “sister”, Pam Fugate and family, Greg and Christian; a very special childhood friend, Missy Powers Florence; a very special uncle, Doyle Brooks and wife, Sue, among other aunts and uncles; a special cousin, Jamie Stamper and wife, Rachel; and other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, November 30 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Wes Dingman officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Cody Smith, Cody Brooks, Greg Fugate, Donnie Smith, Christian Fugate and Dustin Deaton. Serving as honorary bearers will be Dr. Hannah Budieri, Dr. Paula Maionchi, Kathleen Kennedy, the staff of Hospice Care Plus and Jones Family Cosmetic Dentistry and all her Liberty Place family.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.
