PRINCE, Harold D. (1937 - 2018)
Mr. Harold D. Prince, 81, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday morning, November 24, 2018 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was the son of the late William “Bill” and Ethel Stewart Prince born on June 1, 1937 in Knox County.
Harold was a former road inspector with the Kentucky Department of Transportation, a member of the Callihan Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 69. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, was an avid UK Basketball fan and loved spending time with his family. He faithfully served his country in the Kentucky National Guard.
On June 19, 1959, he united in marriage with Edith Mills and to this union two children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and Roy Curtis Prince.
Survivors include his loving wife, Edith Prince of Barbourville; two children, Melissa Owens and husband, Jerry, of Union and Dr. Mark Prince and wife, Julianna Lindsey, of Southlake, TX; a sister, Doris Johnson of Swan Pond; four grandchildren, Jason and Katie Owens and Rhiana and Ethan Prince; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, November 28 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Sylvester Dunn and Rev. James McDonald officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends. Serving as honorary bearers will be his church family.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
