MILLS, Arnold (1939 - 2019)

Mr. Arnold Mills, 79, of Girdler, passed away Friday morning, March 1, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was the son of the late Lloyd and Ada Hubbard Mills born on May 19, 1939 in Knox County.

Arnold was a former Barbourville Street Department employee, a member of the Green Road Baptist Church and was a former deacon of the Hazel Patch Baptist Church in Laurel County.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to church and spending time with his grandchildren.

On May 27, 1961, he united in marriage with Louise Chansler and to this union three children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Barton and two brothers, Robert and Carl Mills.

Survivors include his loving wife, Louise Mills of Girdler; two children, Jeffery Mills and wife, Marguerite, of Cannon and Lisa Mink and husband, Arnold, of East Bernstadt; a son-in-law, Darnell Barton of Woodbine; two sisters, June Mills and Tot Mills and husband, R. J., all of Girdler; six grandchildren, Darnell Barton Jr. and wife, April, Brian Barton and wife, Ammie, David Mink, Sidney Coulter, Christian Mills and Phillip Mills; a great granddaughter, Amanda Barton; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, March 4 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Randy Bingham and Rev. Dewayne Smith officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Patterson Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Pat Mills, Tommy Mills, Billy Mills, Dustin Mills, Jerry Mills and Brad Smith.  Honorary bearers will be Dr. Vora and his staff, Bluegrass Hospice Care and the Knox County EMS.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Monday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
