JONES, Phyllis A. (1954 - 2019)

Mrs. Phyllis A. Jones, 64, of London, formerly of Hinkle, the widow of Samuel R. Jones, passed away Tuesday morning, April 2, 2019 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Henry and Evelyne Moore Mills born on September 27, 1954 in Knox County.

Phyllis was a nurse’s aide and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.  She enjoyed tending flowers and spending time with family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Michelle Jones; two sisters, Wilma Callebs and Carolyn Mills; two brothers, Ernest Mills and Lester Mills; two nieces, Brittney Bradley and Kristy Brock and son, William Trevor Brock; two nephews, Brian Marion and Michael Callebs; two brothers-in-law, Charles Jones and George Riley and a special mother-in-law, Clara Jones.

Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Jones of London; four sisters, Juanita Mason and husband, Ray, of Hinkle, Sharlette Mills of London, Brenda Evans and husband, Lance, of Manhakin, NJ and Louise Jones of Whitesburg; two sisters-in-law, Janice Mills of London and Nannie Mills of Lexington; several nieces and nephews; other loved ones including, Allie and Shelia Engle, Joann Larkey, Lisa Grubb, Kesha Mills, Judy Zarnes, Katrina Grubb, Nicole Brock and Erma Dunaway; special friends, Alex Ross, Jennie Bowling and Jennifer Blankenship; among other family and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, April 7 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Tip Smith and Rev. Mickie Smith officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Moore Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Billy Hensley, William Mills, Shawn Brock and Alex Shelton.  Honorary bearers will be Douglas Mills and Steven Mills.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
