HUBBARD, Lowell "Buzzard" (1942 - 2019)
Mr. Lowell “Buzzard” Hubbard, 76, of Corbin, passed away Tuesday morning, March 5, 2019 at Baptist Health Corbin. He was the son of the late Sol and Elsie Mills Hubbard born on July 5, 1942 in Knox County.
Lowell was a former coal miner and a member of the Free Spirit Baptist Church. He enjoyed collecting knives and guns, spending time outdoors and especially enjoyed time with his family and was an avid UK basketball and football fan.
On March 26, 1964, he united in marriage with Genople “Opal” Lawson and to this union six children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal; four sisters, Opal Carter, Cora Mae Hubbard, Glessie Ballard and Tressie Hudson; four brothers, Thurman, Earl, Glenn and Bradley C. Hubbard; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Hubbard and three great grandchildren, Jacob Ryan Wagers, Paris Renee Johnson and Ariel Skye Roark.
Survivors include his children, Roger Hubbard and wife, Lisa, of Bailey Switch, Danny Wayne Hubbard of Barbourville, Lisa Blakely and husband, Andrew, of Bimble, Randy Hubbard of Corbin, Lowell Hubbard Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Dewitt and Rita Kaye Kysar and husband, Tony, of Corbin; a brother, Shelby Hubbard and wife, Edith, of Hinkle; 23 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, March 10 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Roger Liford and Rev. Wes Williamson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Patterson Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Roger Hubbard Jr., Danny Hubbard Jr., Alvin Hubbard, Parker Hubbard, Bubby Hubbard, Sol Hubbard and Robbie Hubbard. Serving as honorary bearers will be Shane Blakely, Randy Blakely and Luther Wagers.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.
