GRAY, Nelson (1943 - 2019)

Mr. Nelson Gray, 76, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday evening, May 14, 2019 at the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.  He was the son of the late Thomas G. and Carrie Grubb Gray born on February 10, 1943 in Barbourville.

Nelson was a former courier with Forcht Bank and attended the Parkway Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

On June 2, 1962, he united in marriage with Beulah Mae Warren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Willard, Ken, Thomas and Ernest Gray and two sisters, Elsie Marie Carnes and Lena Mae Chadwell.

Survivors include his children, Ricky Dizney and wife, Julie, of Gray, Vicky Bunch and Eddie Gray both of Barbourville; four brothers, Lloyd Gray and wife, Sharon, of Tennessee, Jack Gray of Lexington, Colonel Gray and wife, Shirley, of Georgetown and Thomas Gray of Indiana; six sisters, Janice King and husband, Gary, of Barbourville, Tammy Golden and husband, Michael, of Indiana, Judy Wagers and husband, Wendell, Joetta Davis and husband, John, Loretta Smith and husband, Randy, and Mary Guy and husband, Jason, all of Barbourville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, May 18 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Jerry Vaughn and Rev. Ronnie Owens officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Ricky Dizney, Ricky Dizney Jr., Eddie Gray, Danny Bunch, Kenny Gray Jr. and Jason Gray.  Honorary bearers will be Lloyd Gray, Jack Gray and Colonel Gray.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
