GAMBREL, Bobby Ray (1941 - 2019)
Mr. Bobby Ray Gambrel, 77, of Union, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2019 at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood. He was the son of the late Dee and Lettie Baker Gambrel born on May 26, 1941 in Knox County.
Bobby was a former electrician with Fox Paper Company and of the Baptist faith. He was an avid UK fan, enjoyed fishing and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
On January 21, 1966, he united in marriage with Lana Browning and to this union two daughters were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Virgil, Homer, James, Frank, Ivan and Bert Gambrel.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Lana Gambrel of Union; two daughters, Michele Grob of Ft. Mitchell and Sheila Sweeney of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Ronnie Gambrel and wife, Mitzi, of Flat Lick; two grandchildren, Morgan Poynter and husband, Cory, and Kyle Sweeney; a great grandson, Dawson Ray Poynter; a former son-in-law, Michael Grob of Union; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A graveside service will be conducted in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro Thursday, March 7 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Josh Smith officiating.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may call at the cemetery prior to the service time.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
