ELDER, Roy C. "Chris" (1983 - 2019)
Mr. Roy Christopher “Chris” Elder, 35, of Walker, passed away Monday morning, January 21, 2019 at Baptist Health Corbin. He was the son of Thelma Gray Elder and the late Roy Elder born on September 13, 1983 in Pineville.
Chris was a truck driver for Hubbard Trucking and a member of the Walker Baptist Church. He previously worked at the Oak Ridge Nuclear Plant before going to Louisiana to work on the levees after hurricane Katrina. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, fishing, playing basketball, loved old trucks and working on vehicles. He was an avid UK Wildcats and Michael Jordan fan.
On November 8, 2002, he united in marriage with Holly Blevins.
Survivors include his loving mother, Thelma Elder of Walker; two sons, Colton Elder of Cannon and Cayden Elder of Barbourville; a sister, Tammy Bingham and husband, Billy Joe, of Walker; a niece, Megan Gilmore and husband, Corey, of Lexington; Colton’s mother, Holly Blevins of Cannon; a dear friend, Dustin Bowling of Cannon; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, January 28 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Mark Partin and Rev. Ken Merida officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Eli Carnes Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Barry Hubbard, Josh Messer, Dustin Bowling, Ricky Mills, Lowell Mills, Duane Bingham and Jason Spradlin. Honorary bearers will be the staff and doctors of Baptist Health Corbin.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
