CARNES, T. J. Mills (1930 - 2019)
Mr. T. J. Mills Carnes, 88, of Bimble, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at his daughter’s home in Florida. He has joined his loving and devoted wife, Genevieve Grubb Carnes, who preceded him in death. T. J. was the son of the late Henry and Martha Mills Carnes born October 28, 1930 at Stinking Creek.
In 1948, T. J. and his wife left Kentucky to live in Michigan where they raised their family. T. J. retired after 30 years at Chevrolet Gear & Axle in Hamtramck. He was a lifetime member of the Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan and a Kentucky Colonel. He and his family were members of the Free Will Baptist Church in Hazel Park, MI and he attended the Salem Baptist Church after returning to Kentucky in 1980.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, DeVonna Gail Carnes Polega and Martha Susan Carnes; a great granddaughter, Kylie; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Pharis Mills, Dora and Luke Elliott, Emma Cleo and Orville Wright and Clarence Freyaldenhoven.
Survivors include his children, Sandra Carnes Johnson and Mitch of St. Petersburg, FL, Gina Carnes Solley of Point Pleasant, NJ; a son, Bill Hubbard of Barbourville; a sister, Rosa Freyaldenhoven of Fowlerville, MI; 12 grandchildren, Aaron Snopek, Shilohe Deming, Zachary Polega, Stacy Croom, Derek Johnson, Tyler Solley, Meghan Jacob, Elizabeth Solley, Adam Hubbard, Nickie Hubbard, Cheyenne Hubbard and Johnna Hubbard; 15 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Avery, Harley, Tyla, Jacob, Dalton, Cassandra, Ella Rose, Alex, Aidan, Ashton, Dani, Ryan, Gavin and Kinsley; among many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, January 26 at 1:00 P.M. Rev. David Barnard officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Mills Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday after 11 A.M. until the service time.
