BRIGHT, Lawrence Jr. (1942 - 2019)

Mr. Lawrence Bright Jr., 77, of Artemus, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his home.  He was the son of the late Lawrence and Alice Johnson Bright born on January 1, 1942 in Knox County.

Lawrence sold produce to many in the area and was of the Pentecostal Faith.  He enjoyed fishing, reading, watching television and especially growing tomatoes.  He faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force.

On September 8, 1962, he united in marriage with Pauline Carnes and to this union four children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and a granddaughter, Angelina Baker.

Survivors include four children, Jane Mills and husband, Zandall, of Barbourville, Renee Hall of Flat Lick, Harold Bright of Artemus and Jerry Bright and wife, Crystal, of Barbourville; two sisters, Norma Averill of Corpus Christi, TX and Wilma Stamper of Middletown, OH; 12 grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Kimberly Cureton, Cody Baker, Timothy Bright, Shane Bright, Rachel Hobbs, Natasha Hudson, Jerry Lee Bright II, Jacob Bright, Emily Bright, Ryan Messer and Dalton Bright; 10 great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, January 15 at 12 Noon with Rev. Roy Vaughn officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Wiley Bright Cemetery with military funeral honors.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.  Honorary bearers will be the staff of the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Richard Carter.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
