Mrs. Nicie Bargo Mills, 91, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday morning, February 27, 2010 in the Knox County Hospital Long-Term Care Unit. She was a daughter of the late Rufus and Mary Jane Mills Bargo born on May 30, 1918 at Salt Gum.

Mrs. Mills was a homemaker and member of the Paint Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ollie Jean Mills; a grandson, Gary Wayne Burnett; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Abe and Will Bargo and two sisters, Elizabeth Bargo Murphy and Julia Bargo Mills.

Survivors include her children, J. T. Burnette and wife, Maxine of Indian Creek, R. M. Mills and wife, Bonnie, of Swan Pond, Vanessa Smith of Artemus, Elizabeth Doolin of Barbourville, Clarence Mills and wife, Connie, of Artemus, A.J. Mills and girlfriend, Geraldine Smith, of London and Jimmy Mills and wife, Mary, of Ft. Myers, FL; 27 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, March 3 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Denvil Taylor and Rev. Fred Disney officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Brian Smith, Jason Woolum, Josh Mills, Adam Mills, Joseph Mills and Jonathan Mills. Honorary bearers will be George Schaeffer, Louie Patterson, the staff of the Barbourville Nursing Home and the Knox County Hospital Long-Term Care Unit.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
